Denis Island wins Top Island Award

At the recent 2013 Seychelles Business Awards, Denis Island Private won the Seychelles Environmental Sustainability Award.

This prestigious accolade is granted each year to a Seychelles business that demonstrates exceptional environmental awareness,  with particularly regard  to specific environmental programs or initiatives undertaken as part its overall vision and mission.

The property piped some notable competition in the form of L’Archipel (Praslin Island),  Ephelia Resort (Mahe  Island) and Seychelles Breweries to take the title.

A jewel in the crown of the Seychelles isles, this little corner of the world is an ecological wonder. The island is rich with exotic flora and fauna, unspoiled beaches and lush tropical forests, all surrounded by the bottomless sea of the Indian Ocean.

The management  have adopted a philosophy of sustainable integration within this pristine environment, ensuring the natural splendour of this paradisiacal isle will remains generations to come.  A small farm, situated at the north end of the island, supplies fresh organic ingredients for the benefit of all on the island. On Denis, environmental conservation is paramount, with initiatives aimed at preserving and promoting the rich biodiversity that abounds.
Large tracts of forest and habitat have been rehabilitated with indigenous trees, plants, and palms. Endemic bird species have been introduced as part of ongoing national efforts to increase breeding populations. Nowhere else in the world will a morning walk bring you across the Seychelles fody, magpie robin, paradise flycatcher, and Seychelles warbler, among others; giant tortoise and various species of turtle who also call Denis Island home.
