The Seychelles Marathon gets underway tomorrow when more then 1000 runners line up for the start gun
The fourth Sunyang Eco-Healing Seychelles Marathon is set to take its course tomorrow morning, with the starting gun going off at 7am at the Beau Vallon Regatta site.
The Sunyang Eco-Healing Seychelles Marathon is affiliated to AIMS (Association of International Marathon and Distance Races), which promotes road running worldwide.
Organisers are expecting a large number of contestants for this year’s race, especially at international level.
Around 500 marathoners took part in the 2010 event, and this year the number is expected to double.
Competitors have the option of running the full course (42.195 km), the half course (21.0975km) or the less vigorous courses of 10km, 5km and the 10km fun walk.
The marathon will take runners along the coastline of North Mahe.
Some attractive prizes – cash, air tickets with accommodation, boat excursions and ferry tickets – with certificates and medals await the winners.
The annual event is organised by the consul of Seychelles in Korea, Dong Chang Jeong, in collaboration with the Seychelles Tourism Board, National Sports Council and main partner Sunyang Co Ltd from Korea.
Other key partners have also stepped in, expanding the event at international level.
The 2011 Sunyang Eco-Healing Seychelles Marathon has again been organised alongside a Korean Night, when various Korean dishes can be savoured.
This will be held tomorrow evening at the Berjaya Beau Vallon Bay Beach Resort and will incorporate the Eco-Healing Marathon prizegiving.
