Seychelles Travel – Volcano update (2)

Seychelles Hospitality & Tourism Association and Seychelles Tourism Board issue guidance to Seychelles Hoteliers during disruptions .

The Seychelles Hospitality and Tourism Association and the Seychelles Tourism Board have taken the following initiative to assist visitors and are encouraging all the Seychelles Tourism Stakeholders to adhere to the following course of action:

Waive cancellation fees for guests affected by delays in arriving resulting from travel disruption caused by the suspension of flights from Europe due to the volcanic ash situation.

Guests with stays booked at hotels during this time who have been delayed or prevented from travelling should be encouraged to reschedule their stay by contacting their travel agent.

For all clients who have to postpone their travel or drastically amend their reservation, it is being recommended that guests are not charged cancellation fees, if they reschedule their travel dates to within 3-6 months of their existing booking.

Should the hotel not be able to re-accommodate clients during the proposed amended period then it is also encouraged to waive the cancellation fees and thus enable the client to book another Seychelles Hotel.

Where guests are forced to stay additional nights in Seychelles, they be charged favourable/reduced rates at the hotel or help find alternatively priced accommodation, which is what most hotels are already doing and for this we salute them their efforts and goodwill.

Ultimately of course, all decisions lie with each individual hotel as neither the Association nor the Tourist Board has any power to dictate a specific course of action to its members.

Should any guest be experiencing difficulties with respect to any of the above please do contact either David or Marsha on 00 44 (0)1422 240 730
